Babyshambles' Drew McConnell Injures Rib and Spine in Bike Accident

Even though he's survived being in a band with Pete Doherty, Babyshambles' Drew McConnell still isn't invincible.

The bassist is currently recovering from falling off his bike last week. According to NME, McConnell broke his ribs and injured his spine, shoulder blade and knee. It is not yet clear what caused the accident.

The band's manager, Adrian Hunter, took to an online forum to relay a message from McConnell: "I have surgery on my spine today and the next day on my knee. Plates, rods and screws going in both spine and knee. They ain't told me what they plan for my shoulder blade and broken ribs yet."

Hunter also reports that McConnell, who has also played in Doherty's solo backing band and the groups Mongrel and Helsinki, is feeling "comfortable but if a little pained."

Wow - that's really lucky, so glad to hear that he'll be okay...I mean, one of the music industry's biggest names, having such a close call...wait, did you say 'Babyshambles'?? WTF? Sorry, thought you were talking about someone famous. Is this another example of the 'Amy Winehouse' syndrome? Someone who's in the news but no one that any fans actually care about? Can you please tell me about any radio or internet music outlet that actually plays his music? Feel bad for the guy, being in a wreck and all....but....who the hell is he?

WHO??? waste your space a little bit more on someone that know one knows. I asked 25 or so people tonight who babyshambles is and they all laughed or looked at me like i had no idea . Feel bad for Drew tho, whoever he is.
