Trent Reznor Calls 'Pretty Hate Machine' Reissue 'A Record Label Bulls--- Move'

Earlier today (July 14), Reznor took to his Twitter account to tell fans to ignore purchasing a new reissue of Nine Inch Nails' 1989 album, 'Pretty Hate Machine.'
"NIN fans, don't waste your money on this version of PHM that was just released," he wrote, linking to the reissue in question, which has a disclaimer stating this is "very similar to original TVT version. This is not a remastered release."
"...a record label bulls--- move repackaging the old version," Reznor tweeted shortly after. "Ignore please."
Nine Inch Nails gave the album the reissue treatment last November with all of the tracks remastered by Reznor and engineer Tom Baker while also including a cover of Queen's 'Get Down, Make Love,' the B-side to the 1990 single 'Sin.'
In related news, on July 12, Reznor's side project, How to Destroy Angels, posted a new photo labeled "recording" on their site. The group released a six-song self-titled EP for free just over a year ago, so let's hope this means more tunes are on the way, and soon.
Finally, Reznor also shared his excitement over the digital download system Spotify reaching American shores (which Spinner reported earlier today) by tweeting a link offering people a special celebrity invitation to try the service.
So, fans, please don't use Spotify to purchase the new 'Pretty Hate Machine' reissue. There's no use in getting on Trent Reznor's bad side.

@Seanbenson
What Trent is talking about here is the re-issue of the *ORIGINAL* master of HALO2. It seems to be something of a bait and switch to my eyes, and was not approved of by Reznor, and Reznor had nothing to do with that particular release.
Therefore, he is warning his loyal fans to not waste their money on something that is an inferior product, and a bait and switch scam.
Read the article, Genius.
Or, Aaron, you may simply have a point. That "sean benson" can't even be a proper computer dork and surf the web for porn like so many other guys do when they're sitting around the computer bored out of their skulls. (If I were Trent Reznor, I'd be getting my security folks to do a quick search of "sean" to find out if he's potential stalker material. He certainly comes off as someone who's been spurned by an idol.)

He apparently fails to realize that comments don't always show up immediately after being posted. So, he posts and reposts and reposts--probably after another dozen times, he accidentally refreshed the page and BOOM!! there was his comment, 15 times. And now the whole world knows that "sean benson" is a computer illiterate.

July 14 2011 at 6:37 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down Replyfunny this came out today as me and bunch of friends were talking about bands who pull this just the other day. it's funny how they forget who got them where they are today. there are SOOOO many people behind the scenes of any "celebrity". it just seems this guy has nothing else to say. a "bulls*&t move" trent is you forgetting that.
by all means, not defending a record company by ANY means, but dear lord trent, how much money was poured into your career before you "made it"? don't tell me you got to where you are on your own...cause then i would just call you an outright liar.
if it weren't for those people behind the scenes, would you have seen the success you've had worldwide? or would you have been playing your hometown state for years to come?
all this guy ever bitches about are record companies. have you got nothing else in your life that you can allocate as much passion to? i am sure your record company probably made MILLIONS of dollars from your music. that said, did they not take a chance on your career and create a "following" for you? it's a bloody business for god sake. why don't you start tweeting about the $1.50 you pay every time you go to the bank? why don't you tweet about the scam that is called "insurance" that we ALL pay for and very rarely (if ever) use? this could go on and on and on. yes, you made good music and yes record companies aren't saints by any means from what i can tell...but i am SOOOO sick of bands/celebrities who pull this crap. this guy has more money than god now, would he have without the backing of millions upon millions of dollars used to push his career? after all, all the time and effort in the early years are what you got you here. who knows.
we get it trent, the music industry is in shambles and frankly i don't purchase any "re-issues" as it rarely is something that is worth the money, but im a big boy and can make an informed decision on my own. and if it's such a crappy move on their part...why did YOU remaster it as the article reads? to me, making these statements says that you know the media around the world will pick it up and drive interest in your new "re-issue".
to see the energy this man puts into slagging those that made him who he is today...is just getting tired.
