Blake Sennett Clarifies Comments About Rilo Kiley's Split, Confirms Band Is Done

"Look, all bands have s---. Ours was no different. That's all I was saying. The rest has been completely editorial. Most of the interview was in reference to me leaving music in general and my reasoning for doing so. Not Rilo Kiley specifically. This interview was supposed to be about the new Elected album I just released, and somehow became the official announcement of Rilo Kiley's end. Perhaps I chose poorly in using the three inflammatory words all these blogs seem to like so much. So for that I'm sorry. As far as the band being over? We are. Rilo Kiley is officially broken up. It's sad but it happens."

The Elected in my musical opinion, squanders "Rabbit Fur Coat" and "Acid Tongue." Listen to "biggest star" and tell me all about how "sing a song for them" is better.....

The Spinner article hit Blake with the reality stick - now Jenny and Johnathan are pissed at him. Any potential female front-singer he may get in the future would now be leary of him because of his attitude and how he threw his band under the bus, which the article did accurately portray.
Blake forgets that journalism wants the best story - who cares about the new Elected album??! They clearly didn't, which is why they ran it as a bitter band breakup story. It's more interesting. And, is very, very true. He said what he said and does not deny it.
Maybe this will ONCE AGAIN will be a learning experience for Blake to not be GREEDY and just be GRATEFUL.
Rilo may never get back together because of him and his big mouth. Sure, he and Jenny are 'buddies', if by 'buddies' we mean he sits bitterly in the dark and waits for her call.
Did you notice Jenny didn't go to the media to defend herself? Not on Twitter, not on Facebook, nothing. She is above it.
At least Blake can be satisfied that this article in Spinner has helped him sell more Rilo albums and, lucky him, now people will check out the Elected. This is Blake's only 'silver lining'.
