Morrissey, currently on his European tour, was due to play Helsingborg's Sundspärlan venue on Thursday night (14 July) but the concert was cancelled only a few hours before show time.
A statement on the Swedish website Sundsparlan.se (via NME) said the concert had been "cancelled on the artist's own request".
Morrissey later released a statement via fansite True-To-You.net, saying, "Due to severe weather conditions the open air concert at Helsingborg is unable to take place for reasons of public and artiste safety."
The Swedish no-show is only the latest incident on Morrissey's tour, in support of his most recent album 'Years of Refusal'.
During his show in the Danish capital Copenhagen last week, Morrissey had the owner of fansite Morrissey-solo.com kicked out because of what the singer said it had caused him "intentional distress."
The singer also suffered a broken finger in Sweden after being bitten by a dog.

He rose to prominence in the 1980s as the lyricist and vocalist of the alternative rock band The Smiths. The band was highly successful in the United Kingdom but broke up in 1987, and Morrissey began a solo career, making the top ten of the UK Singles Chart on ten occasions.
He was actually kinda cute back in the day. Too bad he's apparently become a real big schmuck.
