But the just-announced Sept. 27 release date (via Nonesuch/One Little Indian) can't come soon enough for anyone who's been waiting to unlock the secrets behind Bjork's innovative 'Biophilia' project. Her website was relaunched last month and now the first stage of an app version of the album (also available on CD and vinyl) is available for free from iTunes today (July 19). What's more, 'Crystalline' and 'Cosmogony,' two tracks from the new disc, are also up on iTunes and you can also see the just-revealed album art below.
Also announced is the "swan dress" of deluxe album editions. Bjork is offering an 'Ultimate Edition' for mega-fans -- those jazzed enough on the 'Biophilia' concept to dish out $800 for the decadent disc package -- featuring "black uncoated board wallets" and a slick, "silkscreened oak hinged-lid case for the album." Plus, a 'Biophilia Manual' (you know, just your run-of-the-mill "48-page, full-color, hardbound, cloth-covered and thread-sewn book, tipped on lenticular panel to the front cover, with foil-blocked spine and back cover") and "10 chrome-plated tuning forks, silkscreened on one face in 10 different colors, stamped at the back, and presented in a flocked tray" where "each fork is adjusted to the tone of a Biophilia track, covering a complete octave in a non-conventional scale."
See, we told you it was decadent!
