Deep Dark Robot Give the Cure's 'Love Song' a Haunting Edge -- Video Premiere

While the Cure's 'Love Song' isn't exactly the cheeriest of romantic odes, the new version by Deep Dark Robot -- the latest musical project from Linda Perry -- gives it an edge so mournful that it could make Robert Smith depressed. Perry and her cohort Tony Tornay take this haunting, captivating cover and turn it into a video that mixes fleeting happiness and a shocking twist.

"I love this video and our recording of this Cure classic," Perry tells Spinner. "When we recorded it I was like, 'Oh, I get what this song is about.' So when we decided to shoot the video, I wanted to create this feeling of longing and sadness. I get this feeling of someone leaving a relationship while still in love. In this video, I'm remembering my love, my relationship, how much I love her, but I'm leaving it and saying goodbye while she is sleeping -- or is she?"

'Love Song' is the latest single from Deep Dark Robot, whose debut album, '8 Songs About a Girl,' was released in March via Custard Records.
