Lily Allen Is 'Britain's Best Lyricist,' Says Sir Elton John

Sir Elton John has branded Lily Allen the best lyricist in Britain, as she tackles writing a stage version of 'Bridget Jones' Diary.'

As previously reported by AOL Music, it had been rumoured earlier this month that Allen was given the role, with the former singer later revealing that she had written 10 songs for the musical.

Talking to Music Week, Sir Elton revealed the musical is nearly in the rehearsal stage, taking time to voice his admiration for Allen's talent and determination for someone "so young."



Speaking of her role in the musical, he said, "That's an incredibly exciting thing for her, an amazing step for an artist to write a full musical, especially one so young, but I think Lily is Britain's best lyricist and she's taken this mantle on which is not easy when you're young."

Allen, who seems eager to stick her fingers in many pies, recently doused suggestion her vintage clothes shop, Lucy In Disguise, had closed down. As previously reported by AOL Music UK, Allen confirmed that the shop had moved to a temporary location before it settles permanently -- and proclaimed that she would sue any other publication that writes "deliberately misleading" articles about her shop.
