Metric Announce 'Fantasies Flashbacks,' Deluxe Album With Fan Remixes for Fall

Upon hearing Metric's 2009 album, 'Fantasies,' fans immediately wanted more. More tracks. More of Emily Haines' adorable bravado. More of, well, everything. So with today's reveal of 'Fantasies Flashbacks,' a deluxe album featuring the original studio album plus a remix collection culled from fan contributors, Metric freaks should be in a festive mood.

"Thank you to everyone who sent in Fantasies Flashbacks submissions, I feel so very close to you all. Your submissions contradicted my fears. You weren't afraid to be f---ing real!" wrote Haines on Metric's website.

"Overwhelmed by the quantity and quality of the remixes," Metric has found a way to "honour their fans' abundant talents and creativity" by releasing this limited-edition vinyl box set (available Oct. 11), said a press release. All proceeds from the release will be donated to Toronto's Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, so you can sing along to your fave tracks knowing you're doing your part for an excellent cause.

Included in 'Fantasies Flashbacks' are 10 seven-inch singles that feature a 'Fantasies' original on the A-side with the B-side reserved for the fan remix. Those who snap up the custom box set will also be treated to a PlayButton digital music player loaded with the band's remix picks, inserts featuring album info and fan art and other goodies definitely worth your while.

Though most of us are impatient for a new studio album from Metric (word has it, the Toronto indie rockers aren't that far off from delivering one), 'Fantasies Flashbacks' is a pretty good hold-over.
