Winehouse had released two albums but was preparing for a third, with the demos being recorded during time spent in Saint Lucia. It now seems inconceivable that an LP won't be released, though final say will ultimately go to the deceased's parents, Mitch and Janis Winehouse.
Phil Alexander, editor-in-chief at Mojo, told the Daily Telegraph, "It is inevitable that her death will elevate her reputation and that there will be a third record released."
Others anticipating the release included Adam Liversage of the British Phonographic Industry (BPI,) who commented, "You might argue that Amy Winehouse was already in the pantheon of greats. Her songs have become standards. Already there has been a lot of anticipation for a new album and if it was released posthumously that will only increase that interest."
Such expectations come in the wake of news that the singer's death has led to a significant jump in sales of her recorded back catalogue, with critically lauded 2006 album 'Back to Black' sitting at the top of the iTunes chart within hours of the event.
For now, however, the next definite Winehouse-related release will be a duet of 'Body and Soul' she recorded with veteran American performer Tony Bennett for his upcoming 'Duets II' album, out in September.
