Unfortunately for Kaskade and the city of Los Angeles, a swarm of fans descended on the theater shutting down a section of Hollywood Boulevard, creating a driver's nightmare on the 101 freeway, LA's KFI radio reports (via THR). "Literally thousands and thousands of kids showed up for this thing," KFI's Tim Conway Jr. said of the event.
LAPD officers were dispatched to the scene to ask the crowd to leave, but several fans became unruly, throwing bottles and even lighting a cop car on fire. Police responded by shooting riot-reducing bean bags at the crowd.
The festival and its management company Insomniac have experienced several tragedies over the years with the death of a 15-year-old girl due to an ecstasy overdose in 2010 and a 19-year-old man dying just last month of undisclosed causes.
