Samantha Savage Smith Longs for Pantsless John Cusack in 'You Always Come to Mind' -- Video Premiere

She may be pint-sized but Calgary's own Samantha Savage Smith doesn't lack in heart and lyrical prowess. Her debut album, 'Tough Cookie,' which is out later this fall, delves into the snowy soundscape of her native Calgary through bluesy guitars, souped-up snare drums and a voice reminiscent of Billie Holiday singing rock 'n 'roll.

'You Always Come to Mind' is a more contemplative piece, employing meditative, shimmering guitars while Smith's vocals reverberate in a soft-yet-confident tone. The song's video is simple but effective, featuring the singer through a glittering and kaleidoscopic lens.

"Wilkosz and Way [the directors] hit the feel of the song spot on. We both liked the idea of a sad party ... Like no one showing up to your surprise birthday (which you planned yourself) and wishing John Cusack would be at your window with a ghetto blaster above his head ... but not wearing pants," the 24-year-old tells Spinner. "I was sure as s--- that the tinsel, balloons and sparklers would make the song less obviously depressing, but it didn't help. It's still pretty sad."
