Speaking to Spinner in June about his current treatments for Hepatitis C, upper respiratory problems and a recent liver transplant, Allman said, "I had actually caught [Hepatitis] when I was 20. I was getting my first or second tattoo and that's where I got it, before they passed all the laws where they have to have the needles sealed and everything. He just picks a couple of 'em out of a bucket, stirred 'em in some water or something, and loaded them in the guns! Said, 'Whatcha want, boy? What color?'"
After an incredible three-hour set at the Beacon Theatre in New York City with the Allman Brothers and several North American dates, Allman has decided to take a break from the rough ways of the road. Jambands.com reports that the singer will need to be hospitalized for several days followed by four to six weeks of bed rest.
But his health problems didn't stop Allman from performing with his band the Bridge (who are disbanding this year) at the AmeriServ Flood City Music Festival in Johnstown, P.A. over the weekend.
"That speaks a lot about what kind of performer he is to be here," Shelley Johansson, marketing manager for the festival told the Tribune Democrat. Get well soon, Gregg!

I would much rather have had my brother who is 3 yrs. older than me, going to Allman Brothers concerts and 'contracting' HepC from a bad tattoo as opposed to ending up in Vietnam and 'contracting' shrapnel from a landmine! Hep C most of the time is considered manageable...however dead is dead and the only manageable issue with losing your brother is... death is NEVER manageable...and you spend the rest of your life trying to make sense out of a "senseless war"...ooops, I mean "senseless conflict" which caused a "senseless death! The Allman Brothers music was one of my brother’s all-time favorites along with Creedence Clearwater and ZZTop...and when he packed off to Nam, he told me I could use his album collections, but I had better take care of them and he didn’t want to see a single scratch on them. To this day there is not a scratch whatsoever!
You're my blue sky, you're my sunny day.
Lord, you know it makes me high when you turn your love my way,
Turn your love my way, yeah.
I just paid $24,31 for an iPad2-64GB and my girlfriend loves her Panasonic GF 1 Camera that we got for $34,26 there arriving tomorrow by UPS. I will never pay such expensive retail prices in stores again. Especially when I also sold a 42 inch LED TV to my boss for $678 which only cost me $68,18 to buy. Here is the website we use to get it all from, CentSpace.com

Fred Schneider rocks, too!
yeah right, a tattoo is where he got it from

I did not even know I got Hep C until about 30 years later and I traced it back to my Tattoo. Don't be so sure of yourself.

We each have our own idea from our own generation of what makes an icon... Gregg is an AMAZING musician.... Icon status for me personally!!!
August 09 2011 at 8:05 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyHe's an icon, that's for sure. Sorry 'bout your luck if you don't know or understand, if you haven't seen his concerts and heard the music. Rock on, Duane!

Plus, you probably didn't even read the article about how he contracted Hepatitis from a infected needle while getting a tattoo. Listen to some classic Allman Brothers like "Eat a Peach" - the album.
