Black Francis and Reid Paley Team Up for 'Crescent Moon' -- Song Premiere

When Brooklyn, N.Y. singer-songwriter Reid Paley teamed up with longtime friend and Pixies frontman Black Francis, magic was certainly made. Under the moniker Paley and Francis, the pair is releasing an acoustic-leaning self-titled debut -- and now you can hear the first single, 'Crescent Moon.'

A delicate electric piano stretches out beneath an electrified acoustic guitar, providing a quirky-yet-endearing vibe while Francis and Paley trade falsetto vocal duties. Written and recorded over a few days during the 2010 Pixies tour and finished up at Jon Tiven's studio in Nashville, this collaboration is sure to be a new favorite of Pixies and Paley fans alike.

"It more or less has the shape of a love song," Black Francis tells Spinner. "But 'Crescent Moon' reflects more my longing for an ancient romantic context that includes wild animals, fire, danger of death, stellar navigation, and seasonal intuition."

'Paley and Francis' will be released Sept. 13 via Sonic Unyon Records.
