Liam Gallagher Suing Brother Noel for Libel Over Hangover Comments

"I have taken legal action against Noel Gallagher for statements he made during the Electric Cinema press conference on July 6 during which he claimed Oasis pulled out of the 2009 V Festival Chelmsford gig because I had a hangover. That is a lie and I want Oasis fans, and others who were at V, to know the truth," the younger Gallagher said in a statement about the suit.
Noel has also claimed that the band's sudden -- but certainly not surprising -- breakup was due to Liam's insistence that Oasis' concert flyers include ads for his clothing line, Pretty Green. "The truth is there was no such discussion or row between us," Liam said. "There are many reasons why Oasis split. But it had nothing to do with my clothing range."
"I am used to being called all sort of things by Noel and I have in the past said things about him, but what Noel has alleged this time went way beyond rock-and-roll banter and questioned my professionalism," he continued.
Noel has yet to respond to the lawsuit, but he did recently talk to Britain's The Sun about the aftermath of Oasis' split. "After I quit, we had to fold because we were all partners in various businesses -- not businesses like selling oranges off the back of a truck, but a touring company and the record label had to close, which took a while and all the money needed to be split," he said.
"So there was all that f---ing nonsense, but as break-ups go, to be honest it was quite amicable. Then Liam started doing interviews and then it was like, 'hmmm.'"
Yes, "hmmm." Check back soon for chapter 26,488.

August 20 2011 at 5:48 PM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyI loved Oasis back in the 90s. Too bad they can't get over themselves. It would be nice if they stopped fighting and released some new music.
August 20 2011 at 5:15 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyThe Gallagher brothers have been at each other's throats for decades (since AT LEAST the 90's). Over what really, I'm not sure. It's pathetic though, especially since I liked a number of their songs. SMH
