Lou Reed Makes Metallica Cry

Former Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed reduced Metallica's James Hetfield and Kirk Hammett to tears during a recording session with a mere set of lyrics. According to the hard rockers, Reed made them weep while they were recording the song 'Junior Dad' for their upcoming collaborative album 'Lulu.'

Hammett explained to Contact Music, "I had just lost my father literally three or four weeks previous. I had to run out of the control room, and I found myself standing in the kitchen, sobbing away."

Hetfield, whose father abandoned his family while he was a teenager, soon joined Hammet in the kitchen sobfest. "James came into the kitchen in the same condition -- he was sobbing, too. It was insane ... Lou managed to take out both guitar players in Metallica in one fell swoop, with his amazing poetic lyrics," Hammett elaborated.

The album will be released on Oct. 31, when the world can shed a few collective tears on Halloween.

These guys are an embarassment to former metallicats everywhere; i miss the Alcohollica days when they were real people.
