Angel Radio, which broadcasts music exclusively from before 1969, had its transmitter knocked out by a lightning bolt in July. After receiving the donation from the Rolling Stones guitarist, station director Bev Webster was perplexed. "We thought the cheque was a joke," he told the Sun. "But accountants confirmed it was the real Keith Richards. I've written to say thanks. It is so exciting to think he might be a fan."
A spokesman confirmed that it was actually Richards who made the donation, but declined to comment further.
