San Antonio trio Girl in a Coma are one of rock 'n' roll's best-kept secrets. Discovered and signed by Joan Jett after participating in a cable TV show called 'Jammin,' the girls were propelled into a life of touring and recording. Six years later, these Southwestern belles are still rocking, and their latest album 'Exits and All the Rest' may just get them to the next level.

'Smart' is an exercise in the band's namesake, taking Morrissey-like inflections and inserting them into a girl-group setting. The result is a fantastic pop performance with a super-catchy hook, new-wave change-ups and chillingly calculated vocals from Nina Diaz.

"'Smart' is probably the poppiest song we've ever written," drummer Phanie Diaz tells Spinner. "When Nina first wrote it we actually were not sure if we even wanted it for the record. Now its our top favorite track."
