Iggy Pop Remembers Everyone He Loved 'Flashing Before My Eyes' on 9/11

As the 10th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks approaches, thousands of people -- and plenty of celebrities -- are sharing their memories of that tragic day. In a recent interview with Spinner, Iggy Pop opened up about where he was that morning and how it affected him.

"I was in the living room of my 1920s Mediterranean revival Cuban-style house in Miami Beach," Pop tells Spinner. "After having lived in New York and Berlin and wherever else all my life, I had my first American-style big-screen TV. And that's what I woke up to, watching with my girlfriend (who is now my wife).

"What immediately happened was, right through my mind an imagery of the people I love. It was very interesting as the two of us watched. None of them were anywhere near what was happening in New York, but like ducks in a row, bing-bing-bing, everyone I love in my life just flashed before my eyes. That's what it did to me."

Pop is currently recuperating after breaking two bones in his foot, which caused the Stooges to cancel a handful of West Coast shows. The Los Angeles date at the Hollywood Palladium has been rescheduled for Dec. 1, while the pair at San Francisco's Warfield will take place on Dec. 4 and 6. The makeup gig for their Las Vegas appearance at the Hard Rock has yet to be announced.
