Tallarico died peacefully at the Hunt Community Home where he was surrounded by his family. A WWII Veteran, he was also a musician his entire life and his talents helped nurture his son's meteoric music career. He was performing until the age of 93 and would play concerts for cocktail hours each week at the Hunt Home.
"Of course, I'm proud of him," he said of Steven in a 2010 interview with the Nashua Telegraph. "(He's) number one in the rock field. There is none like him. There will never be. He, as far as I'm concerned, is a genius."
Tallarico is survived by his brother, his two children, Steven and Lynda, seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. As his obituary states, "Among Victor's proudest accomplishments were his offspring: Lynda, a retired teacher who resides in southern Vermont, and Steven, who, having been well launched into the music business by Victor, became famous as Steven Tyler, the lead singer of the rock band Aerosmith."

I also attended Cardinal Spellman HS in the Bronx from '73-77, and Victor Tallarico was my music teacher. He was a fine man, an excellent musician and a patient teacher. He was proud of his son, especially since Aerosmith had it's big break with "Walk This Way" while I was at CSHS.
FWIW, unlike the previous poster, I found most of the teachers there to be good ones, including the Brothers and Sisters of Charity and the lay teachers. Of course there were a few stinkers, and the Dean of Students Bob Baisley was amongst them - he had a short fuse and a bad temper. He was neither a priest nor a brother.
Mr. Tallarico, a music teacher, was my homeroom teacher in Cardinal Spellman, Bronx, NY. I attended that school in 74-77. I recall Mr. Tallarico speaking so proudly about Steven and his band: Aerosmith. This was before Aerosmith had a name. We would goof around and be sarcastic about the band but it never bothered Mr. Tallarico. He was a wonderful human, and very tolerant of some of the antics I and some of my classmates would pull. I remember once spraying the class with the fire extinquisher only to be caught by a priest who happened to walk by the class room. In a strict school such as Cardinal Spellman, Mr. Tallarico was laid back and kind. He genuinely loved the kids which was alot more than I can say for some of the priests in the school, especially the Dean of Students, Mr. Baisley.

My dad passed away this summer, also. Mine was 92. While it's a blessing to have a parent with us for that long, the hard part is that we had even more years to love them and make memories. And that can make the loss just that much harder. I hope that your dad is up there playing amazing music for everyone in Heaven and that my dad is there listening to him, with a big smile on his face. Many blessings to you and your family at this difficult time.

I'm so sorry, Steven. I've always been a huge fan of yours. My heart goes out to you and your family in your time of loss.
God Bless You and yours .....
My thoughts and prayers go out to your family. Mr. Tallarico was my favorite teacher at Cardinal Spellman. He spoke so highly of Steven and his band and offered us an A+ if we went to see his son's band in concert. He also was very proud his son got clean and bought him a Cadillac. He truly loved his son and was so proud.
He also loved music. I have fond memories of turning the music pages while he played tunes from West Side Story. RIP.
So sorry for your loss. The Cardinal Spellman family truly feels this loss as well. Mr. Tallarico filled Spellman with his love of music and love of life!
