Paul McCartney and Nancy Shevell Reportedly Getting Married This Weekend

As Spinner recently reported, Sir Paul McCartney proposed to his girlfriend, "everyone-knows-her-as-Nancy" Shevell, back in May, and the couple will reportedly tie the knot this weekend.

"It will be a small, intimate wedding," an unnamed source tells Us Weekly. "It's going to be very elegant and classic."

The ceremony will take place in London in front of close family and friends. The couple will then travel back to New York City for a bigger bash. This is Sir Paul's third marriage. His first wife Linda succumbed to cancer in 1998, and McCartney divorced his second wife Heather Mills in 2008.

His new American fiancée is currently a member of the board of the New York Metropolitan Transportation Authority and is also a divorcee. Maybe city dwellers can get some Beatles tunes pumping on the train every morning?

In other news, McCartney will be receiving the MusiCares person of the year award due to his charitable works. The Washington Post reports that Recording Academy President and CEO Neil Portnow says McCartney "exemplifies the phrase 'artist/philanthropist.'" The ceremony will take place during Grammy week.
