Echoes, Redferns
As Gawker reports, the Jamaican sensation was pulled over in the Bronx borough of New York City on Wednesday, Sept. 14, when police discovered an inordinate amount of weed in Morgan's trunk: 25 pounds, to be exact. That's a lot of pot -- like, a felony amount. He drew the cops' attention by blowing a stoplight and not wearing a seat belt (smart).
Upon further investigation, the officers decided to search Morgan's house, where they found 310 more pounds of marijuana, which the New York Times points out has a street value between $140,000 to $350,000. That's a lot of green (pun intended)!
Morgan emigrated from Jamaica to the US in 1965 to be a music star. He was the first reggae artist signed to RCA in '84. He is currently in police custody.

Edgar Hoover's buddies) got to form the Bureau of Narcotics and Dangerous Drugs, the USA had no marijuana problem! It wasn;t illegal to posess or smoke! In fact most of it was used to make rope and was grown by our first President George Washington at his Mt. Vernon estate! Good Ole Harry, realized from watching buddy J. Edgar Hoover's career path with the U. S. Federal Government, decided to make his way to economic security with a cushy government job. Harry declared war on the "corrupter of youth"and "the ruination of young virgins"! He took it upon himself to demonize the "devil's weed", marijuana! Harry was appointed the head of the BNDD and the rest is history folks. Harry rose from just a tight ass nobody, to the number 2 enemy of crime! (Number 1 being J. Edgar Hoover aka "Betty"! Hoover liked to dress up in women's clothing for his private get togethers and become "Betty") With the creation of the BNDD, life became very economically secure for Harry Anslinger in the uncertain times preceeding the Great Depression. This was the beginning of the "Drug Problem in the USA. Another tight ass, corrupt Republican Politician, Richard M. Nixon (of" I am not a crook" and "I tried a roofer and it did nothing for me" fame! We are not sure if Nixon got the name wrong or had an unsatisfying sexual encounter with a maintenance worker!) started the "War on Drugs" which is credited with doing the most to popularize the use of marijuana and other recreational drugs, rather than discouraging their use by Americans! So Harry Anslinger and Richard Nixon deserve the most credit for America's current usage of that "demon weed"!
