On Monday, the crooner was promoting his new album, 'Duets II,' on Howard Stern's radio show when he shared his thoughts on terrorism, ABC News reports. "But who are the terrorists?" he asked Stern after the host questioned how the country should treat the hijackers. "Are we the terrorists or are they the terrorists? Two wrongs don't make a right."
"They flew the plane in, but we caused it," Bennett added when Stern said that the 9/11 attacks led to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. "Because we were bombing them and they told us to stop."

Even more surprising than Bennett's candor on the subject was what he said about a conversation he had about the Iraq War with President George W. Bush during the 2005 Kennedy Center Honors. "He told me personally that night that, he said, 'I think I made a mistake,'" Bennett revealed, adding that the President did so because "he had a special liking to me."
And here we thought Tony's duet with Lady Gaga on 'The Lady Is a Tramp' would be the biggest shock to come out of 'Duets II' ...

I was on a crew on a fringe musical which Anthony Newley wrote and performed in at the Kings head in London. he was well known by the stars and had the commonsense to keep out of politics. Its a pity more "Celebs" would zip the vosice box on this subject,

Of course if you know anything about world history you know muslims have been doing this since the year 610, about 882 years before there was an America. When they kill enough children of the infidels (us) in the name of Allah they will get to sit at his right arm and be rewarded 72 virgins. They will kill in the name of their God till the end of time. These are Tony Bennetts peoples!

We're being told by media that there were never any shovel ready jobs or even "green" jobs. We're being lied to about it and that includes 9/11. There is a Nova document about an FBI man saying US knew 9/11 would happen and surmised they let it happen. That's on TV. And they being told to apologise? Huh???

Finally somebody steps up and cals the "shots" the way he sees thma an the way thhey really are. To all of the moronic hypocritical Flag wavers out there who wear their hearts on their sleeves, just SHUT UP.
We don't nurture and raise our children to grow up and be maimed, injored, or die
in the name of freedom. It's a crock of s _ _ t and you know it.
The American people don't start wars. It's the politicians. These ill advised, greedy, corrupt, egotistical jerks, should be rounded up like cattle, and squeezed
into smelly crates like chickens going to the slaughter house.
Tony, Now you have gone stupid and you don't sing so well anymore.

September 23 2011 at 3:04 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyYou should read the book "The Ugly American," a 1958 political novel by Eugene Burdickand William Lederer.. It described what much of the world thought (and still thinks) of our country for a number of reasons. THEY FEEL THAT WE ARE PERVASIVE IN ATTEMPTING TO INSTALL OUR BELIEFS/VALUES/MORALS ETC INTO EVERY ASPECT OF THEIR LIVES. They feel that we say "DO WHAT WE SAY, NOT WHAT WE DO" To them we are HYPOCRITES!! They look at how we dress, our issues with drugs & alcohol, unwed pregnancies, foul language (especially in rap songs), high crime rates, disrespect for authority etc and don't consider us role models. Reality or not, "fringe disenfranchised" Middle Easterners responded with the 911 attack. Sadly, if one looks back over the past 30 years of US/Middle Eastern relations one could predict something like this horrific event taking place. Don't show your ignorance of world affairs by blaming Tony Bennett for stating his mind. Remember we all have FIRST AMENDMENT RIGHTS!!

Another Liberal anti American...and if George Bush did in fact "trust" him as Tony said. then George will now see the error of his ways. Tony cannot be trusted....what a shame!
September 22 2011 at 3:08 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyYou're the anti American. Freedom speech means just that, freedom of speech. I'm sick to death of loosing all of our rights in the name of OIL. And if you can't see that, you are blind.
