Moore won for 'Walk Up Like This,' beating out 'We Used to Wait' by Arcade Fire, 'Beat and the Pulse' by Austra, 'When I Get Back' by Handsome Furs and the PS I Love You track '2012.'
The folky songstress, who hails from Montreal and has collaborated with Feist, Patrick Watson and Socalled, among others, walks away with $5,000 for the prestigious honour (a French song is also honoured each year in a parallel competition).
"I often get asked how long I have been singing for, and I don't know how to answer that," says Moore. "How long have you been breathing? It's just a natural thing I do. I love it."
Moore joins a list of ECHO winners that include Vancouver's Brasstronaut and Toronto's D-Sisive.
