A documentary, filmed by director Joe Berlinger, and a box set will be released in celebration of the 1986 classic. Footage will include a July 2011 concert that Simon, trumpeter Hugh Masekela and Ladysmith Black Mambazo performed in South Africa.
"The documentary took me back to the artistic aspects and the political aspects of making 'Graceland' and the controversy that surrounded it and how it was resolved, plus what remains of it and what we learn from it," the 69-year-old songwriter said in a press release.
'Graceland' melded Simon's American folk stylings with African rhythms, and introduced several African artists to the pop scene. Do you remember the first time listening to this landmark album? Let us know!
