According to a post Oct. 12 on their site, the group will work with acclaimed film composer Howard Shore for a new David Cronenberg movie.
"It's an adaptation of the book 'Cosmopolis' by Don DeLillo, and the themes are right in tune with the overall mood of the world at the moment," the band wrote. "In 'Cosmopolis,' the rat has become a unit of currency."
The band confirmed the film -- which was shot in their hometown earlier this year -- stars 'Twilight' actor Robert Pattinson "minus the vampires!" And according to the movie's official site, other stars include Paul Giamatti and Juliette Binoche.
Metric also announced they're nearing the homestretch regarding completion of their new studio album, the follow-up to 2009's 'Fantasies.' Metric expects the yet-to-be-titled record -- recorded in Toronto and New York's Electric Lady studios -- to be out in early 2012.
As for Metric's 'Fantasies Flashbacks' remix album, the disc, which was expected to be released today, has been delayed because of the London riots in August which led to the destruction of a Sony/PIAS distribution warehouse.
"We're lucky that we weren't impacted nearly as badly as many other indie labels and bands who took a terrible hit," they wrote, naming Nov. 21 as the new date for the disc's physical release. "Your order will absolutely not be cancelled, it's just going to take us long than expected to get the music to you."
