"[Sly] wants to get clean, and stay sober," a source close to the soul-funk superstar says. "Sly has fallen on very hard times in the past few years. Sly will be in rehab for at least the next 90 days, and he is committed to getting sober."
Sly was recently arrested for possession of cocaine earlier this year. The leader of Sly and the Family Stone has undergone a meteoric downfall: in the last several years he had to give up a compound in Napa Valley, Calif. and was relegated to living in a camper van. The singer had earlier expressed his intentions to get clean and put his music career back on track. Here's hoping the 69-year-old will get it together, everyone needs a little more funk in their lives.

It will take a miracle for Sly to get clean, but anything is possible with God. All geniuses seem to suffer from this need to be artificially stimulated. So sad.

He's obviously delusional to think he can "comeback" agfter all these years. The best we can hope for is that he gets sober. I don't need any new Sly music...I'm happy listening to the old stuff. Pray for him.
October 22 2011 at 9:16 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyJust a few weeks ago it was reported he was broke and living in a truck or camper. Now, he's in rehab. Who's paying for it? I've heard many stories about him and they're not good. I've also heard he's a musical genius. Personally, i'll pass on his music, never got into it, at all. I wish him well and hopefully he wants to get clean and sober, not publicity, someone feeling sorry for him and somehow the money starts rolling in for him to use for his addiction.

In 1975 a few friends drove this nut case and his band from Detroit to Chicago.. About every 20-30 miles we'd have to pull over so half of them could puke on the roadside. Every one of them was snorting or poppin smack the whole way. We poured them out of the cars and never saw them again.. Loved their music.
