Sean Lennon and Rufus Wainwright Cover Madonna at Occupy Wall Street
- Posted on Oct 24th 2011 6:08PM by Theo Spielberg
The duo, plus Lennon's girlfriend Charlotte Kemp-Muhl and protesters who are vehemently against fracking, put together an ironic, one-off rendition of Madonna's 'Material Girl' with some solid accompaniment from the Occupation (which is actually a pretty awesome name for a backing band).
Perhaps a song that was more overtly tongue in cheek than one about somebody who couldn't be happier courting riches would've played better, but the Occupy crowd seemed to love it, especially as it was dedicated to Fed chairman Ben Bernanke. Keep an eye out for the banjo and accordionist (Muhl) in the background, just killing it (much respect to anyone who keeps an accordion handy).
