Aaron Beamish, drummer for Toronto area rock group Slow Motion Victory, was killed in the early hours of Oct. 21 after being struck by a garbage truck while riding his longboard. According to The Toronto Star, the 25-year-old -- who was featured alongside his bandmates in the latest season of the 'MuchMusic: Discovered' TV series -- was on the wrong side of the road when he was hit.

"In the absence of life there is death, and in the absence of happiness there is sadness," the band wrote on their Facebook page upon hearing the tragic news. "Today the world lost a son, a boyfriend, a best friend, a brother, a kick ass drummer, a teammate, and one of the greatest guys we ever got to meet. Words cannot express the devastation.

"We would like to send our condolences to his family and his girlfriend. And to our friend and brother Aaron, we're gonna miss you man and you'll always be our man behind the cymbals. Keep smiling that larger than life smile up there brother. Forever gone but never forgotten."

The group later posted a photo of the makeshift memorial set up for Beamish -- who also went by the moniker "Aaron Arsenic" -- at the busy Toronto intersection where the fatal accident occurred.

Slow Motion Victory continue to thank fans and fellow musicians for the "endless letters, love and support throughout this dark time." Beamish's former bandmates are also asking anyone with video footage or pictures of the late drummer to contact slowmotionvictory@hotmail.com as they're working on a tribute. Although nothing has been confirmed, there is speculation that a memorial or benefit concert could also be staged.

No charges have been laid but an investigation continues.

I knew Aaron personally and he was the drummer for my ex's now-failed band. He was a spoiled, lying, manipulative, cheating, misogynist who tried to swindle hundreds of dollars from my ex when I was still with him. Aaron had no problem beating young women who were either too drugged or had too little self-respect for themselves to fight back. Aaron made everyone else in the band do the set ups and take downs during shows while he ****** his ex in a van behind Jyll's back. Aaron exploited everyone. He treated everyone like garbage, and he gets killed by a moving box of garbage. I call that poetic justice.

I wish people who have jobs -- esp. dream jobs -- would stay safe. It's a dancers JOB to not ski. Even if they like to ski. It's a singers job to not SCREAM or hang out with people who have the flu etc.... This whole thing with skating, extreme extreme. How bout coffins w/that word on the side. He thought he was 25. He was 90. When he was 13.... he was 47 somethin' like that. It's all relative. STAY SAFE for yourself not for yer mummy. xo

I'm 38 and I skate. I don't "play with a skateboard." I ride them. Riding pools, halfpipes and skateparks is far more challenging and fun than chasing a tiny white ball around a lawn or putting on a leather glove and squatting in front of another man's crotch as he tries to hit a ball with a bat (which is totally mature, right?) There are plenty of guys older than me who are in great shape and skating a lot too. However, the non-skating guys my age who I constantly see picking up their kids from the skatepark, are fat, tired and look as though they have given up on life. I think you need a skateboard, Handsomeolderguy.

The night be got killed, he had done a fair amount of cocaine so that might explain why the skateboarding at night against traffic. He treated everyone like garbage though, and he got killed by a moving box of garbage. I call that poetic justice.
