Pink Floyd Guitarist's Son Denied Appeal, Sentenced to 16 Months in Prison

Lord Justice Hughes announced the decision claiming the court wasn't able to say that his sentence was, "arguably either manifestly excessive or wrong in principle."
The list of grievances against Gilmour is lengthy. He was seen hanging from a Union flag on the Cenotaph memorializing dead soldiers; leaping onto the hood of a Jaguar in the royal convoy; throwing a garbage can at the vehicle carrying the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall; and smashing a storefront window of the TopShop on Oxford street and absconding with the leg of a mannequin.
Gilmour has claimed that he was intoxicated, finding solace ingesting both LSD and Valium before his rampage. The binge began when his biological father, writer Heathcote Williams, rejected him yet again, failing to show up at Gilmour's 21st birthday.

Levon Helm and Rick Danko you rock! RIP Rick
November 21 2011 at 8:12 AM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyBack in the 70s, I dropped acid, popped pills and smoked pot, (Although these days I don't even like taking the hydrocodone my dentist gave me the other day) but I can't remember any instances of me or any of my friends going out and thrashing anything, usually we were just kicking back tripping to Pink Floyd's music, so I really don't buy into the " I was under the influence of LSD" defense that I see so often when someone is in trouble with the law.
But I do remember the rich kids that though they could do anything and get away with it, they had that arrogant attitude toward everything,
FATHERS, FATHERS WHY ARE YOU SO ABSENT FROM YOUR CHILDREN'S LIFES. THIS IS ANGER AND THE NEED TO BE ACKNOWLEDGE BY A PARENT THAT IS NEVER AVAILABLE TO GIVE LOVE OR JUST BE THERE. SAD, VERY SAD.
October 30 2011 at 8:59 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyNice journalism. This moron is NOT David Gilmour's son. He is Heathcote Williams son. Of course, no one would give a hobo's crap about this story if that was the headline.

October 30 2011 at 8:22 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWith a father like that for a role model, what do you expect from the son?
October 30 2011 at 8:19 PM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyWow, what a bunch of self-righteous, hyper-judgmental people posting here, it seems.
Are you totally without flaws and sins?
I agree that he is a spoiled product of the so called "love" generation (what a fraud),
but I don't see that as a reason to condemn him. Like so many young people who were raised without a strong, diligently-taught moral upbringing, this lad is acting out in ways that, to me, are totally to be expected out of someone raised without seriously strong moral guidance, coupled with having WAY TOO MUCH MONEY and FREE TIME on his hands. That is a combination for moral disaster and a guarantee, almost, of antisocial behavior. I will pray for this kid.
He seems very sad and angry at the same time.
He is only twenty-one, for crying out loud. He should be made to pay for all the damages his hooliganism caused, and he's plenty wealthy to do so, but I don't like the idea of young people being put in those horrible prisons with hardened, super-violent murderers and thugs, who often prey on such young men and savagely beat them and gang-rape them. Good lord, what decent, merciful person would WANT to subject a young man to THAT??
That's self-righteous and sadistic, seriously. I will pray for him, and put him on a prayer list.
(Those places don't "correct" anybody, usually they make them FAR WORSE, FAR WORSE, than they were when they first went in.) God bless everyone who has been commenting here. Love to all of you. Let's pray for this kid, and for the kids of Hollywood stars. I've seen them interviewed. They seem, deep down, like nice people who don't have a moral clue and were never given any moral or spiritual direction. God bless.
You have WAY too much time on your hands ... this kid would probably laugh in your biblethumping face.
October 30 2011 at 9:32 PM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyI work, smart aleck, and do not have much time on my hands at all.
My biblethumpting face? I never thumped any bible nor quoted any scriptures, you god-hating bigot.
If, as he says, he felt his biological dad rejected him and led him to act out stupidly ala OWS , imagine how he feels now that the court has declared, in its name, that society has rejected the little anarchist. With any luck, Charlie won't feel rejected in prison.
October 30 2011 at 8:09 PM Report abuse Permalink -1 rate up rate down ReplyHe looks like Boy George's son. He is not David Gilmour's real son. This is the media trying to make news of a dumb and stupid punk. If I was David Gilmour, I would make him stand in a public place with a sign that reads: " I am so stupid and need to learn my lesson"
