J.Viewz Brings Futuristic Nostalgia to 'Building a Home' -- Video Premiere

Brooklyn, N.Y.-based producer and songwriter Jonathan Dagan, aka J.Viewz, has been steadily releasing his original brand of nostalgic electronic music over the past year. Through a subscription service, J.Viewz delivered new tunes on a regular schedule to fans, which makes his newest record 'rivers and homes.' an intimate and very immediate indie release.

Dagan's latest single, 'Building a Home,' is like the soundtrack to any number of '80s noir films. The drums soak up the island rays while kitschy synths squish and dissipate like sand through a sunbather's hands. And the song's accompanying video fits this aesthetic perfectly.

The sepia-soaked tropicals skateboard, bike and surf through endlessly psychedelic colors. The perfect neon beach is covered in a melancholy haze and adorned with scantily clad babes, while a triptych of J.Viewz sings through abounding reverb in clouds of cotton candy.

"This was the last track I produced for 'rivers and homes.' The album was actually completed two weeks before, but I was still on a creative roll that I recorded this in two days and slipped in the master at the last minute," J.Viewz tells Spinner. "I sent the song to my graphic designer friend Yair Cohen (who did the color for 'Salty Air') and he made this video, and made it feel futuristic, in an vintagey way somehow ... I guess that being 'futuristic' in design or sound was really the mainstream when we were kids, and it has a warm nostalgic spot in my heart."
