Jakob Dylan to Reunite the Wallflowers

This year brought us the reunions of Pulp, the Stone Roses and Big Audio Dynamite, and now America can add one of its own to the growing list of reunited British bands: The Wallflowers. Speaking to Rolling Stone, frontman Jakob Dylan said he plans to reform his defunct outfit this upcoming January.

"I've got new songs and we've all been talking," Dylan said. "We've been trying to carve that time out for a while."

Dylan then claimed that he never meant to break up the band definitively, though they have been on hiatus for the last four years. "I never suggested we were breaking up," he explained. "We all felt we were losing the plot a little bit and we needed a break. And that year break becomes two years, then becomes three years, and before you know it five or six years go by pretty quickly."

The band looks to dig into work on their first album since 2005's 'Rebel Sweetheart,' and first work at all since their 2009 tour behind the 'Collected: 1996-2005' compilation, next year. Dylan, who has been touring solo/acoustic style for the last several years, said he is excited to get back together with his band.

"I miss it," he admitted. "I'm happy to put the acoustic guitar down. That was something I wanted to do, but I never planned on hitting the road and just being the guy with a guitar out there. That never has been exciting to me. I came up loving bands and I want to be in one."
