Lou Reed + Metallica Perform 'Iced Honey,' 'White Light/White Heat' on 'Jools Holland'

The first live performance of 'Lulu' was a rendition of album standout 'Iced Honey,' in which Reed strums with less enthusiasm than Kurt Cobain performing 'Smells Like Teen Spirit' on 'Top of the Pops.' Meanwhile, Metallica goes all out on the rock posturing, and Lars Ulrich makes a few choice Lars faces. Reed also seems to have situated himself as far away as possible from the Metallica dudes, which highlights the vast stylistic gulf in between the two rather than accentuating any sort of artistic counterpoint. How Darren Aronofsky is going to deal with these guys in his upcoming music video is anybody's guess.
For their second piece, Loutallica surprised us with a rendition of the Velvet Underground classic 'White Light/White Heat,' managing to make it sound like even less of a VU song than 'Iced Honey.' If it was up to us, we'd opt for a performance of 'Junior Dad,' and if they wanted to cut out the ten minute drone at the end, nobody would be complaining. Check out the videos below.
