The incident took place in a Manhattan apartment building where the complainants, Roseanna Monk and her husband Kevin, live. LaBelle had also been staying in the building for a short time during her tenure in the Broadway musical 'Fela!'
The Monks' lawyer, Samuel L. Davis, recently told the press that the 'Lady Marmalade' singer got into an unwarranted scuffle with Roseanna Monk when she allowed her toddler to stray slightly away. Monk was apparently carrying some luggage and a car seat in the lobby of her building on Nov. 11, 2010 when LaBelle criticized her neighbor for her lack of concern. Monk then scooped up her child and told LaBelle that it was none of her business which led the singer to throw water at the pair while simultaneously launching into an obscenity-laden lecture.
When the toddler started to cry, Monk made an undisclosed remark to Labelle who then charged the resident, attempting to hit her. The Monks' lawsuit seeks an unspecified amount for damages, an apology from LaBelle and a donation to a children's cancer charity. According to Davis, the request has been denied by LaBelle and her camp. "Someone's got to teach her even a diva can't attack and frighten and assault regular people in the building," Davis relayed from his clients.
This new lawsuit comes just months after LaBelle's bodyguards brutally beat a West Point cadet when he neared too close to the singer's luggage outside a Houston airport. After the incident, the cadet, Richard King, was suspended from West Point and required at least one year of service. He has since been reinstated and is suing LaBelle for physical damages and defamation. The singer recently countersued for the cadet's alleged use of sexually and racially demeaning language at the airport pickup area.
At the time of LaBelle's incident with the Monks, the family filed a police report but no arrests were made.

It looks to me like the cadet my be a little drunk/high and it looks to me as if actully pushed first. Look at the tape again. It's all there. It also look like he could have had his eye on one of those bags and he just maight have been talking to his partner in crime on that cellphone. I think he got off easy. Most body guards leave you needing some body part replaced. Just stop hating for a sec and look at the tape again that cadet was not innocent.

November 15 2011 at 9:45 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWow. You are actually sensoring me for simply saying this article is completely one sided. Pathetic.
November 15 2011 at 8:38 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate down ReplyWhat is it with these so called celebrities, that they think they are somehow entitled to act like they are so above everyone else. Patti LaBelle is nothing but a hasbeen singer from the dark ages and she needs to retire herself to a mental hospital.

He was casually walking and talking on he cell phone on airport property, in the same area everyone else was crossing and so called 'coming near her luggage'. So, after they push and punch the kids, he stumbles for some time and finally takes off.
She then, stands around and takes pictures with fans! Disgusting. No class. She has the nerve to 'countersuit' for language he used - yeah, I think when you push someone around that is minding his own business, he might get a bit defensive and say things he might not usually say. I liked her, but obviously, we don't always know what a celebrity is REALLY like. I wouldn't call her a diva, she seems more like a B*itch.
She is straight out hoody trash that got lucky and thinks she is something special. She is fecal matter wrapped in skin...

November 15 2011 at 8:03 PM Report abuse Permalink +3 rate up rate down ReplyYou people need to keep your mouths zipped until you know the facts.
1. The Cadette was talking on his cell phone walking aimlessly near where the cabs come to pick people up just waiting for a cab. He did not talk, touch, or in any way approach Labelle at all. It's all on video surveillance. What's this crap about him stealing? BS She didn't like him being 6 to 8 feet away, so on the tape, she sent her bodyguards to rough him up. She's trash.
2. If she didn't like the toddler walking away, any decent person would have sent her bodyguards to help the woman get her stuff together so she would watch the child better instead of criticizing. She obviously said something antagonistic or the mother would not have told her to mind her own business. Either way throwing water on a child, despicable. What a loser Labelle is.
Patti is a celebrity, and we all know that this gives her special privileges to do whatever she wants, and complete immunity for it as well. Just ask Lindsay Lohan and Naomi Campbell!
