"A lot of you have been hearing that Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band will be on tour in 2012," a statement released Sunday evening on Springsteen's site says. "That is absolutely correct. The European dates run from the middle of May until the end of July and are being announced this week. Info on the U.S. and the World tour dates will (be) coming up shortly."
The tour will be the band's first since concluding the 2009 world trek in Buffalo and the first without Clemons, who died on June 18 of this year. There's no word if the group is considering bringing a touring saxophonist on the global jaunt.
Meanwhile, the group will also be performing behind new studio material. According to the same post the "music is almost done" and "we have almost settled on the release date." The band released its last album, 'Working on a Dream,' in early 2009. Again, there is no indication if any of the new material contains a contribution from Clemons.
The news also stops any speculation that Springsteen would embark on a solo album and tour as has been the case in recent memory.
Springsteen performed with Joe Grushecky and the Houserockers over two nights earlier this month in Pittsburgh. The Boss also played a benefit show in late October with proceeds going to Boston College.

But once I was driving through the poorest section of a small southern town while I had a Blues tape (dating myself there) in the player and the music made so much more sense. Play some Springsteen loud when you are driving through a place with oil tanks, a shipyard, maybe a boarded up bunch of buildings on a neglected urban street and it makes so much more sense. The music becomes the soundtrack to your life and it fits perfectly. Once I had the key to understanding his sound I grew to love all his music. An American treasure.

always thought that would be a smash like mirror ball with Neil Young
Hey Bill, do yourself a favor, save your opinions for yourself. Nobody cares what you think people should be listening to. Take care of yourself and don't worry about us. We're doing just fine. Perhaps if you had some depth and you've read some of Springsteen's lyrics you would have learned something. Those other clowns you mentioned couldn't hold a candle to just a few lines of Springsteen. Plus the music is extraordinary. Don't get upset because he's the best american songwriter of my generation. Try listening, not trying to be cool with these bands who won't be remebered. Boss will never be forgotten.

Open your mind and check out Porcupine Tree, Hawkwind, Nektar, Eno, there is so much more out there to listen too. Don't just listen to music, experience it. At least, if you want to stay mainstreem, try Pink Floyd, Moody Blues etc.

You should try listening to Bruce, it'll expand your horizons.
Where did anyone say they listen to just Springsteen? All of the bands you mentioned play the same type of music, I think you should expand your horizon a little. I happen to enjoy Porcupine Tree and Hawkwind but I also listen to other artists as well. You're trying a little too hard to be hip and you come off sounding like an ass.
