Nickelback have recently taken that aphorism to heart, teaming with FunnyorDie.com to make a short, self-deprecating video clip. Responding to the backlash and near-universal ire that arose amongst Detroit Lions fans upon the announcement that the band would provide the halftime entertainment for the Thanksgiving Lions-Packers game.
The Canadian band parody themselves with the help of actor and funnyman Paul Scheer. Taking the online petition (which was signed by over 55,000 people) rather jovially, the band filmed a skit in which they have a meeting with a smarmy record exec in order to revamp their image. The folks at EKG records endeavor to revive Nickelback's "crisis mode" with a series of harebrained schemes.
The guys in Nickelback definitely deserve a shout out for taking such iron-fisted hatred with levity, as well as jokingly admitting to making love to goats. Although, to be fair, it's probably easy to make fun of yourself when you get to laugh all the way to the bank.
