Mitch Winehouse: Listening to Amy's Posthumous Album Is 'Difficult'

As Spinner previously reported, Amy Winehouse's posthumous album 'Lioness: Hidden Treasures' is set for a Dec. 5th release in the U.K. (Dec. 6 in the U.S.) but the album is already topping Amazon's British bestseller list. Father, Mitch Winehouse, spoke to the difficulties of listening to and releasing his daughter's album after her passing.

"We had to listen to it because if it wasn't up to scratch, we wouldn't have allowed it to go out," he said. "We weren't pleasantly surprised, we were stunned at how wonderful the album is."

Amy Winehouse's death took the music world by storm and left many reeling. One of her producers, Salaam Remi, told Billboard that listening to 'Lioness' reminded him how "gifted and talented she was."

Her father on the other hand, remembers her genius to be so natural that it often went unnoticed. "We were so busy chasing her around all over the place that we forgot how brilliant she was, that's the truth," he recalled. "She was just our kid, just a normal girl who did normal things, who had this incredible talent."
