Robyn on 'SNL': Mesmerizing Mix of Singing, Dancing and Spandex

Robyn offered up two songs: the Grammy-nominated 'Call Your Girlfriend' and 'Dancing On My Own.' On the former, she showed why she's the rare dance-pop artist that indie peeps can get behind. Backed by two drummers, she worked it in stretch pants and platform boots, at one point following a backward tumble with a quick series of floor-humping pelvic thrusts.
Following that up with 'Dancing On My Own,' the singer changed into a brown tank top, mesh shirt and different (arguably better) pair of spandex pants. She mostly stood still for the first verse but then let loose, making with Pete Townshend windmills, energetic air drums and hand motions that suggested either Broadway hopeful and over-caffeinated NFL ref.
Check out both clips below.

Robyn is awesome performer - and i think her uniqueness makes her fresh and interesting. She has her own label and can do as she pleases - she doesn't need to act like anyone but herself.

January 12 2012 at 12:35 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplyIt was not a lip sync- the vocals and such were changed from the original. Yes, Robyn is quarky. That's what I love about her. Although the two songs she performed are not my favorites of all time, she does do some nice stuff. She is a good writer particularly with lyrics.

January 12 2012 at 12:23 AM Report abuse Permalink +1 rate up rate down ReplySaw her performance. Wife and I actually laughed out load. What a load no talent crap. Her backing track was vanilla and boring. Vocals was about the same. As far as song writing skills I've seen better.
December 13 2011 at 8:39 AM Report abuse Permalink +2 rate up rate down ReplyRobyns music is definitely influenced by music from the 80's but I liked it and I like her voice.
@ Lisa Lisa is going to take time out of her busy day of eating cheetos to write SNL?
she was terrible. my 12 yo neice thought so too. She was so bad that I actually took the time to write to SNL to let them know she sucked!

Ply with the spring brand and sign without the letters in hand. Makes the writers a young fact. Have to speak to the lights and forget the digts are towels grip of life. WWWWWWWWWWWWWWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiifpdf.

January 31 2012 at 7:25 PM Report abuse Permalink rate up rate downWow...You guys are misguidedly harsh. And ignorant. Anyone actually listened to her BodyTalk albums? Didn't think so. There's some great genre-busting dance music on them.
