Koehler, who left Vivian Girls to join Best Coast, added that the departure was "not my choice." In response to a fan query as to why she was terminated, Koehler replied, "Your guess is as good as mine."
Intent not to be cast as a ruthless bandleader, Best Coast frontwoman Bethany Cosentino made some social media announcements herself, posting on Facebook to clear up "some misunderstandings surrounding the departure of Ali from the band."
"Best Coast has and always will be Bobb [Bruno] and I," the post read. "No matter who has joined the band on tour, whatever lineup ensues, the band is simply the two of us."
Cosentino further clarified, "One last thing: For those of you who are assuming things, Ali was informed 2 months ago that our live lineup was changing. There is no bad blood between any of us."
Best Coast are currently working on their sophomore album to follow up their 2010 breakthrough debut, 'Crazy for You, with producer Jon Brion. For more information on Koehler's solo musical pursuits, head over to her Bandcamp page.
