Sublime With Rome Drummer Bud Gaugh Quits Band to Focus on Fatherhood

Sublime With Rome drummer Bud Gaugh announced that he's leaving the band. "The story is that I'm gonna be a dad here again real soon, and I just wanna be there for my family," he revealed before the band's set at KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas on Dec. 10 in Los Angeles.

The former Sublime drummer and bassist Eric Wilson teamed up with singer Rome Ramirez in 2009 to perform tracks from their old albums as well as new material. Sublime, kwown for such hits as 'What I Got' and 'Santeria,' originally disbanded following the 1996 death of singer, guitarist and main songwriter Bradley Nowell.

The 44-year-old Gaugh has previously admitted to being devastated by Nowell's heroin overdose and subsequent passing. He later struggled with but ultimately triumphed over his own alcohol addiction.

Gaugh will be replaced with drummer Josh Freese, who has performed with the Vandals and A Perfect Circle, and more recently, as the touring drummer for Paramore in South America.
