Video: 'Jerk!'
Highlight: "We were really lucky to work with David Dutton, who directed the viral music video 'Internet Killed the Video Star' by the Limousines as well as 'The Summer Place' by my favorite band, Fountains of Wayne, who are actually friends of ours," singer Stephie Coplan tells Spinner. "At the time, I was going through a big 'Mad Men' phase and David honored that by doing a '60s-themed video in which I play an edgier version of a Betty Draper-type character. We shot the whole thing in 14 hours with just David and a makeup artist -- there was no crew.
"We love the work that David did but were in no way expecting this level of attention -- 24 hours after it went up, Paul Driscoll at Boston's alternative station WFNX saw it and started spinning it on his nightly show. I'm not gonna lie, it felt really good to rub it in the real-life jerk's face. Even when he wrote back and called me 'bitchtits,' I didn't really mind. I'm so thankful for every person who has listened to the song and enjoyed it so far -- it's a thrill every time someone tells me that it's stuck in their head. Remember, ladies -- if a guy gets under your skin, just write a manic hate-sex anthem about him. You'll feel so much better."
