Steven Tyler Tells Oprah He's 'Ashamed' of His Adulterous Past -- Video

In a recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, Tyler and his longtime girlfriend Erin Brady sat down to discuss their relationship's success, as well as the Demon of Screamin's dark past of womanizing and philandering.
"I saw how he behaved ... badly. But I said, 'Hey listen, if you play it, I'm gonna play it," Brady told the venerable talk show host about the beginning of the couple's relationship. "I just want to make that clear to you.' And he didn't really like it when he was on the other side of that scenario."
When asked if he could sustain a monogamous relationship while maintaining his stardom, Tyler responded, "I don't want to hurt anybody again. For all the divorces I've had, I hurt those girls deeply. There was some behavior that I'm ashamed of and I shouldn't have done."
Since giving up his playboy status, Tyler has redeemed himself in the eyes of his current girlfriend. Watch the video below to find out the sweetest thing he ever did for this lucky lady.

People do often mellow and become more reflective with age, but more power to you folks if you choose to believe him as I'm guessing "ashamed" is a stretch with a little disappointed in himself over certain instances (like all of us) likely being much closer to the truth. It sounds nice and is probably the right thing for him to say at 63 when cornered on the subject with Erin right next to him (no man should ever sit for an interview with Oprah), but the reality is that he knew perfectly well what he was doing to selfishly hurt women thirty, forty years ago and did it anyway. Neither drug use nor anything else excuses that as he could have ceased much sooner if he'd really thought what he was doing was wrong and he plain and simply didn't.

He may have been drugging and drinking, but that doesn't always necessary mean he enjoyed ALL of it. Sure there's enjoyment in the moment,or a drug/drink induced haze and feelings of euphoria, but it doesn't mean that you're happy or like your actions, and when (IF) you ever have a sober time you will probably (if you're lucky) realize that your actions were abhorrant and fill you with regret.

People (especially women, sorry) are always going to stand by those they truly care about and defend them pretty much no matter what in a doggish, mindless way, but that sure as hell doesn't make such self-serving and subjective behavior correct. Like many famous and ultra-successful men Tyler mastered the art of completely manipulating the women in his life long ago and that he continues to display as much to the present day shouldn't come as a shock to anyone.
