Etta James Taken Off Respirator, Now Breathing on Her Own

"Ms. James has been taken off the respirator and is now breathing on her own. Her blood pressure is normal," the singer's manager Lupe de Leon tells AFP. "We are all happy with this news."
James, 73, is still in the care of doctors at a Riverside, Calif. hospital but is expected to venture to her nearby home within the coming days, though her manager says it's still to early to know when that will be. The 'At Last' singer spent Christmas in her hospital room, surrounded by loved ones.
James' husband, Artis Mills, is currently in a legal dispute with Donto James (Etta's son) over control of the singer's million-dollar estate. Mills, who retains control, recently requested $500,000 for the care of his wife but was only granted $350,000 by a superior court judge.

Wow...... I am a 40 year old woman who has been a fan of Etta James since I was in my 20's. I attended a concert just a couple years ago and still this is one of the greatest thrills of my life.
I loved her spunk, attitude, vulgarity- she gave it all from deep within everytime- if she thought it she was gone say.... simple as that.
A beautiful woman indeed- I am going to miss you but now your soul gets to rest- God knows you fought a long time. Finally peace, kindness and love be with you
I have been a fan of Etta James since early 50's attended her concert at the Wiltern theater and took my Grand kids. We have lost a great California legand and Voice.
Rest in peace you will live on through your Music " At Last"

I am praying for a speedy recovery for you and a renewed spirit and strength. Never the less not my will but thine be done lord .
