After being released from the hospital just before Christmas, the singer gave a news conference in front of his home looking emaciated and said he was thankful to be alive. "I'm very weak but I feel amazing. It was by far the worst month of my life, but I'm incredibly, incredibly fortunate to be here," Michael told reporters. But not everyone was happy for the singer, especially conservative group Christians for a Moral America.
"Did you know that while I was fighting for my life in Austria there were a bunch of those lovely American 'Christian' organizations, who call themselves Christians for a Moral America, who were actually taking the time to pray for me to die," Michael wrote in a series of tweets. According to the singer, the "c---sucking bastards" were wholly against the openly gay singer's survival and apparently accused Michael of having AIDS rather than pneumonia.
"Pray for George Michael's demise. He has chosen a satanic lifestyle and must meet an appropriate end," one tweet read (via The Christian Post). "Apparently George Michael has AIDS. Figures since he's a homosexual and it goes with the territory. Another sodomite bites the dust?"
Even though the radical group's hateful remarks riled up the 'Faith' singer, Michael insists he isn't a Christian hater himself. "Now don't get me wrong, I know for a fact that many devout Christians, such as the ones I work, rest and play with on a daily basis, are truly wonderful, kindhearted men and women who take the best parts of that religion and live admirable, generous and loving lives."
Despite ill wishes from anti-gay activists, Michael is in good spirits and on the mend. Christians for a Moral America's Twitter account has since been deactivated.
