Politician Proposes $25 Fine for Singers Who Mess With National Anthem

Oh my God, can we get SERIOUS here??? It's MUSIC! It's EXPRESSION! It's an old English DRINKING SONG!
If you're truly offended by any variation in it's delivery, why not pass a law that this tired Relic MUST be RECITED ONLY, and NEVER SUNG? And not only recited, but spoken ONLY IN A SPECIFICALLY MIDWESTERN ACCENT... not the "uncouth" East Coast version, the "lazy" Southern Drawl, the suspiciously Canadian-tinged clipped Northern variation, or the highly suspicious West Coast-y Valley Girl/Surfer Dude option?
Better yet, played only as an ultimately predictable, safely pre-recorded robotic "voice", without emotion or any other sign of human involvement. A little like Mitt Romney's campaign speeches.

actually buying a house for these stars is like a regular joe/jane buying a hamburger, so 25 bucks is less than a penny, they should withhold pay or fine the something theyll remember

Maybe these singers need to get a lesson on the National Anthem from Lori Morgan. I had the privilege of hearing her sing it at a NASCAR Winston Cup Race at the Rockingham, NC race track back in the early 2000's. It was without a doubt the best rendition that I have ever heard. With no music, Miss Morgan belted our song out flawlessly! It still makes me feel very fortunate to have been there just remembering how well it was performed.

Is $25.00 enough for the BIG money makers of our country to pay for messing up the National Anthem? Really these singer? I question the singer part yuck! They live in a country where you can earn that kind of money and they want to howl like a dog and change the words and act so disrepectful. Who picks these people? Oh yeah probably the people who don't care they are just looking for names that draw the crowds. Let's see our men and women instead of playing on the fields are risking their lives on a different like of field keep our country safe and we let individuals make fun of county and our song and our flag. This is SAD!!! Come on America why do you honor these people??? I don't get it!!!

$25 fine? Are you kidding me? That's like giving performers a 5 cent fine.
How about a $25,000 fine, AND they don't get paid for the performance.
Too many Americans paid the ultimate price to defend this country. In my opinion, freedom of speech does not apply here. This anthem is too sacred to our country, and should be performed in that manner. Shame on all you "professional performers", for thinking that you are too "hip" to perform properly. America made you famous...You owe America!
