k.d. lang and Partner Jamie Price Ending Domestic Union

k.d. lang and her partner Jamie Price are ending their relationship. According to court documents obtained by TMZ, the singer has filed to dissolve the couple's domestic union. In the state of California, a domestic partnership allows same-sex couples to share property rights, spousal support and make health care decisions for one another.

lang and Price have been an item since 2003, and no explanation has been given for why the relationship has ended.

After coming out in 1992, lang spoke out against Nashville's intolerance. She has also been a staunch activist for PETA, which has often rubbed country music's cattle-raising supporters the wrong way.

"There's definitely temporary backlashes, but all in all, it could balance out," lang told Spinner last April. "Obviously, coming out definitely helped ... the public awareness of me and who I was. It's obviously not my motivating factor in coming out, but I think it did have a positive effect in terms of publicity. But in the long run it may have hurt me because I still don't really get a lot of radio play. I don't know the answer to that."
