Ringo Starr stopped by SiriusXM's Town Hall event on Jan. 30 to promote his 17th studio album, 'Ringo 2012,' which is out now. After being introduced by jester Russel Brand, Starr was reminded by an astute audience member that it was the anniversary of the Beatles' final concert.
When asked if he had any regrets about the off-the-cuff nature of their goodbye, Ringo responded, "I think it's what it was, when it was, and it's great."
He also revealed that the foursome (and Billy Preston) were actually planning on going out in a far more flamboyant fashion. "The four of us were thinking ... 'We'll do it at the Pyramids, or we'll do it in Hawaii in a volcano,'" Starr remembered. "We had all these big, grandiose ideas and at the end you say, 'Sod it, just let's do it on the roof.'"
In case you missed the interview, tune into SiriusXM Spectrum at the following times to hear it: Friday Feb. 3 at 9PM ET, Saturday Feb. 4 at 2PM ET.
