So how did Hegarty get involved? "I performed for the Tibetan House Concert maybe four or five years ago and this is my second time," Hegarty tells Spinner of his connection to the event. "I met Philip Glass originally through Nico Muhly."
As for the event itself, Hegarty says, "It's like a cavalcade with so many different performers. Usually a bunch of monks will come out at a certain point. There will be some speaking, but usually there are a lot of performers. It's a sort of variety show in a way."
In regards to his performance, he plans on doing one or two songs. "I was talking to Laurie Anderson about possibly doing something together with her but we really don't know yet," he says.
Tickets for the concert are $33 to $95 and can be purchased by calling Carnegie Charge at (212) 247.7800 or visiting the Carnegie Hall website.
