Sitting down with Anderson Cooper for a special that will air before the Grammys telecast, Adele described the onset of her condition, which forced her to have surgery on her vocal cords. "[It was] like someone put a curtain over my throat ... and I could feel it. It felt like something popped in my throat."
She was diagnosed with recurrent vocal cord hemorrhage (aka bleeding) from a benign polyp. While she's made a full recovery and will perform at the Grammys, where she's up for six awards, Adele will have to remain cautious of the condition returning. "If I decide to go on a 200-date world tour, it would happen again," she said.
There was one thing Adele didn't have to change during her vocal rest: Her penchant for cursing. "I had an application on my phone that you type the words into it and then it speaks," she said. "Most of [the apps] you can't swear on, but I found this one app where you can swear, so I'm still really getting my point across."
Maybe Adele can celebrate one of her inevitable Grammy wins with a resounding "F--- yeah"?
