Bon Iver Grammys 2012: Justin Vernon and Band Win Best Alternative Music Album

Those "musical history gods" that Justin Vernon so infamously dissed were clearly smiling down on Bon Iver at the 54th Annual Grammy Awards as his group walked away with the Best Alternative Music Album for their self-titled record.

Though Vernon declined to perform at Sunday's ceremony and was oh-so-publicly dismissive of the golden gramophone leading up to the big night, he didn't let his acceptance speech go to waste.

"Thanks to my parents," he said Sunday during the non-televised award ceremony. The indie singer-songwriter also made sure to thank both the nominees and "non-nominees" in the category.

Bon Iver's sophomore album beat out discs by Death Cab for Cutie, Foster the People, My Morning Jacket and, impressively, alt-rock titans Radiohead.

Surprisingly, Vernon did admit that the win felt "pretty special" and left the podium with a shout-out to his record label Jagjaguwar.

Bon Iver are still up for three big awards, including best new artist, best song and record of the year, so hopefully we get to see Vernon dance around his Grammy diss once again.

The 2012 Grammy Awards telecast begins at 8PM ET on CBS and Global.
