Pearl and the Beard's 'Prodigal Daughter' Video Features One Cute Kid -- Premiere

Pearl and the Beard's Jocelyn Mackenzie, Emily Hope Price and Jeremy Styles met in New York City, all coming from different corners of the United States. With a common love of folk music, they combined their efforts to become one of the Big Apple's most exciting new bands.

Their latest album, 'Killing the Darlings' is like a cache of childhood memories. From the time you're in a stroller to the moment you can walk, Pearl and the Beard have created a soundtrack that surveys youth in a startlingly mature way.

The band's new video for 'Prodigal Daughter' employs the cutest kid you'll see all day. A little girl wakes up to find the world is her oyster, then travels on bare feet through the subways of the city, venturing toward beaches and roaming through forests, all the while following fuchsia-colored yarn.


"'Prodigal Daughter' is a journey, not of one soul, but of the transition of cells and lives as they divide, adventure onward, and reconnect," singer Mackenzie tells Spinner. "It was written about the relationship between my father and my sister as a metaphor; in the same way that the parents' cells divide to create the child, so then later in life the parent-child unit must divide in order for the child to grow."
